"He was born in Potenza in 1974.
After several trips and moving in Italy and abroad, in 1996 Monteleone took up his residence in Rome. In 1999 he got the diploma in Photography at the European Design Institute and he began working as a freelance in news, portrait and show business areas.
In 2002 he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to geographical and social reportage, focusing on color photography and starting a collaboration with "D-La Repubblica Delle Donne".
Among his first works, "Golden Dreams", a sequence of portraits to Italian athletes in occasion of 2000 Sidney Olympic Games; "Hongcouver", based on the many facets of Vancouver; "Ghana, Golden Heart", a travel through the coast of gold and slaves. In 2001, during a stay in Sweden he shot many reportages making a city portrait of its capital Stockholm, focusing on the economic aspect of the country (Ikea) and on its scientific area (Kista Science Park), without neglecting the entertainment (the Sweden circus.)
In 2002, he traveled throughout Korea, documenting its preparation to the World Football Cup, as well as several reportages about the country: city portrait of Seoul, Korean economy and nightlife of Korean youth. Over the past years he also realized a black and white photographic project about Italian Left wing parties based on the revival of opposition movements to Berlusconi Government.
His skill to to analyse, his curiosity and his unquestionable versatility led him to new challenges: as a matter of fact, from December 2002 Davide Monteleone moved to Moscow. From this experience he realized more reportages, such as daily life of Chechens living in Moscow and the Bolshoi Theatre. Then he started a very personal research of images to portrait Moscow.
In 2004 he traveled through Abkhazia, Georgia and Pankisi Valley in order to document the difficult situations of its inhabitants. In Georgia, in particular, he followed the pre- and post-presidential elections time. At the moment the photographer is in Italy, waiting for another travel through Russian Federation as he owns a permanent Visa.
He joined Contrasto in 2001."
