Conference Room, Gwangju Biennale Hall
02.00 - 06.00 PM
September 8, 2006
The "Open Forum: World Contemporary Art and International Biennales" will be held on the public opening of the Gwangju Biennale 2006. In a departure from the conventional conference format, the event will be organised as an open forum wherein various issues pertaining to international biennales can be shared and discussed. By inviting international curators who have participated in the creation of various European and Non-European/Asian biennales, this forum will address the problematics of international biennales by comparing and analysing their differences and common prospects. It will also be the occasion for an evaluation of Gwangju Biennale 2006 and other Asian Biennales within the context of the international biennale format, providing an opportunity to rethink future directions.
